The penetration of artificial intelligence (AI) into agriculture is changing the future of food, according to CGTN. At the seed Congress of 2025 from March 20 to 23 in Tam A City, Hainan Province, smart cultivation became the central theme. More than 40 exhibitors displaying advanced technologies and top crops, highlighting whom are transformed from theoretical to practice. Experts at the event emphasized that smart cultivation is transforming traditional methods into accurate agriculture, providing solutions to overcome resources restrictions, enhance self -reliance in the seed industry, ensuring China’s strategic position in the global seed market.

Li Jiayang, a scholar at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) introduces the concept of “Smart hybridism of smart trees”, emphasizing the potential of integration AI, biotechnology and information technology to develop crops that automatically adapt to the environmental challenge.

Qian Qian, another CAS scholar, refers to the complexity of the characteristics of crops. According to him, computer strength and advanced algorithm will help scientists understand the relationship between genes and the characteristics of crops. Unlike small -scale cultivation, intelligent cultivation applies an industrialization approach, taking advantage of resources to integrate superior characteristics effectively.

AI -based cultivation is bringing many results. For example, in the Chinese National Seed Group, researchers use cloud systems to remotely monitor the field, collect real -time data on health and the development of crops. This allows scientists to solve problems quickly and optimize the propagation process. A remarkable breakthrough is in the field of hybrid rice development. Typically, breeding experts check thousands of combinations to find a superior hybrid rice variety. Currently. Genetic analysis by AI predicts high productivity combinations before starting field testing.

Another milestone is the birth of “Fengdeng”, a large language model focusing on seeds, mainly developed by the Yazhou National Laboratory in Tam A. This AI platform provides knowledge of expert breeding, planting and industrial trends, equipping farmers and researchers with extensive knowledge.

However, the field of smart cultivation in China still has some challenges to overcome, for example, discrete data sets limit AI’s ability to predict and design superior crops.
