During a recent presentation Nintendo Direct, the company outlined the Roadmap of the content coming for the Switch console, with a time horizon that extends to 2025 and beyond. The digital event was the scene of several significant announcements, focused both on new intellectual properties and expected returns. Among the important news stands out the launch of “Nintendo Today!”, An application for smart devices designed to provide users with updated content with daily content. Structured in a similar way to a calendar, the app will offer news, videos and other media related to games and Nintendo characters. Free and accessible via a Nintendo account, it is available for download on the App Store and Google Play. It has also been communicated that the application will convey information on the future Nintendo Switch 2 console console following its dedicated presentation, scheduled for April 2nd.
At the same time, the introduction of the “virtual game card” has been announced, a functionality aimed at optimizing the management of the titles purchased in digital format. This system will allow you to more easily transfer the downloadable software between different consoles associated with the same Nintendo account or belonging to members of the same family group. In addition, a temporary loan mechanics will be implemented (limited to two weeks and activated through local wireless communication) within the family group. This option, which will be introduced through a system update at the end of April, has also been confirmed as compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2 console since its launch.
On the First-Party titles front, the presentation offered substantial updates. New video material for Metroid Prime 4 has been revealed: Beyond, confirming the release of the title during this year and introducing new game mechanics related to the psyche skills of the protagonist Samus Aran. Significant novelty also for the Pokémon series with the announcement of legends Pokémon: Za, scheduled for the end of 2025, which will set the adventure in the city of Luminopoli by introducing dynamics related to urban development and night competitions. 2026 will mark the return of two appreciated series: Tomodachi Life: a dream life, which proposes the peculiar life simulation with the MII characters after over a decade of absence, and Rhythm Paradise Groove, a new chapter of the series of rhythmic games enriched by the music of the Japanese manufacturer Tsunku.
The presentation also dedicated ample space to the titles developed by third partners, demonstrating continuous support for the Switch platform. Among the numerous proposals, Tamagotchi Plaza are reported, arriving on June 27, 2025, the Marvel Cosmic Invasion cooperative fighting game, expected for winter 2025, the return of the agricultural simulation with Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar, scheduled for August 27, 2025, the Collection Patapon 1+2 Replay, released on 11 July 2025, and the expected Dragon Quest i & II HD-2D Remake, whose publication is set for this year. Other titles announced include the Monument Valley Puzzle Trilogy (with the first two chapters available from April 15, 2025 and the third in summer), the Sports game everybody’s Golf: Hot Shots (coming this year), the action RPG Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soultss Army (19 June 2025) and the simulation of magic life Witchbrook (next winter), among others. Finally, to underline the immediate availability on the Nintendo Esop of three titles announced during the event: the JRPG Saga Frontier 2 Remastered, the Rhythm Game Rift of the Necrodancer and the Visual Novel Disney Villains Cursed Café. Nintendo confirmed that further details on the new generation console, Nintendo Switch 2, will be revealed in a dedicated event scheduled for April 2 at 15:00.
