Fujitsu and its partners launch open source software for the operation of quantum computers

Fujitsu has developed in collaboration with its partners in Japan a ‘software’ of operations for quantum computers, in what is considered “one of the greatest open source initiatives of this type worldwide.”

Open Quantum Toolchain for Operators and Users, developed with the University of Osaka, Systems Engineering Consultants and TIS, is totally customizable, from the configuration to operation.

The technological firm has shared it through Github, with the aim of “contributing to making quantum practical computer science”, helping to reduce “the barrier to deploy quantum computers in the cloud”, as stressed in a press release.

This is “one of the largest open source initiatives of this type worldwide”, and will put the ‘software’ available to the companies associated with the research that use their quantum computers as part of their existing service in the second half of 2025.

In the future, Fujitsu will work with research partners to boost the progress of quantum computing through the continuous expansion of the capacities of this ‘software’ and the development of a global community.
