A key project on wildlife conservation experienced an important milestone on March 31 when the construction team started the first stage of pouring the land for the 64 -meter and 54 M Wallis overpass and 53 m, breakthrough works to help local animals pass through the 101 highway in the city of Agoura Hills, California, safe. Once completed, this will be the largest overpass in the world for wildlife.
During the morning, workers poured the soil for the work to serve many different species, including Nui, deer and Linh Mieu lion. This ambition will cross the 10 lanes of the highway below, requiring about 1,560 tons of soil. The foundation process is expected to be completed after a few weeks. According to the schedule, the project will be inaugurated in 2026. The bridge will act as a model for efforts to conserve animals in urban areas around the world, according to the US National Wildlife Federation (NWF).
The land dumping is fully planned with the cooperation of many experts, including land scientists, biologists, engineers and mushroom researchers. They have meticulously selected the appropriate soil and beneficial mushrooms to create the optimal environment for the flora and fauna. Following the first phase, the process of planting about 5,000 indigenous plants will start in May. These species will contribute to creating the necessary living environment for mountain lions, deer, bats, desert -tailed rabbits, spiritual, native birds and butterflies. According to NWF, the list of crops is mainly indigenous scented shrubs in the Santa Monica mountain range.
For 3 years, the nursery nursery associated with the overpass project has collected more than 1.1 million seeds from more than 50 separate species in the Santa Monica mountain range. This seed collection program plays a key role in ensuring that the bridge is covered with suitable plants when the bridge is put into operation.
The overpass plan also includes installing irrigation systems and automatic spraying to support trees in many weather conditions. When the Wallis Annenberg overpass forms a shape, this will be a testament to the effort to cooperate to promote peaceful living between urban and wildlife environment, while solving ecological challenges.
