Openai is preparing for the launch of new artificial intelligence models

According to sources close to the company, Openai is close to the presentation of a new series of artificial intelligence models. Among these, the GPT-4.1 version is expected, which should represent an evolution of the Multimodale GPT-4O model, already known for its ability to simultaneously elaborate audio, images and text in real time. The release of GPT-4.1 will also be accompanied by lighter variants, called GPT-4.1 Mini and Nano, whose debut could take place already from next week. In addition to these updates, Openii would also be completing the complete version of the “O3” reasoning model and a reduced version called “O4 Mini”.

Although the CEO of Openai, Sam Altman, has recently announced on X the arrival of an “exciting” functionality, it is not yet clear whether it is one of the models mentioned above. Some internal sources specify that the company has postponed the launch of new models in the past due to limitations in the operational capacity, which is why it is not excluded that the debut of GPT-4.1 can suffer further delays. Altman also warned users that, due to the challenges related to resource management, the next releases may be delays, present malfunctions or slowdowns in services. Recently, the growing demand for the image generation features has forced Openii to temporarily limit access to these functions, with the same Altman who ironically said that “our GPUs are dissolving”, due to the high use by users of the free version of Chatgpt.
