Homemade retro shooter SHROT got a Steam page, ANIQ reveals new details

Homeći gaming studio ANIQ boasted that their game SHROT is in rapid development, and that it is now moreć also got a Steam page where fans can add it to their wishlist and follow further development. SHROT aims to be a fast and witty “boomer shooter” with dark humor. In the center is the Slavic trainč of a truck that finds itself in the middle of an invasion of robotic aliens, which sets the tone for mindless smashing, explosions and one-liners. The aesthetics consciously aim for a retro tone, but with more modern readable effects and a fluid pace.

The most concrete innovation is, as we said, the opening of the official Steam page where SHROT can be added to the wishlist. It is an important step for visibility, and through it will come announcements about progress, pace of development and future tests.

The project is being developed as part of the Games Croatia initiative, and ANIQ reports that the development has entered a rapid phase. The studio lists a team of approximately twelve to thirteen people with external collaborators and the use of motion capture for animations. In earlier presentations, the tentative budget of around 1.14 million euros was mentioned, which represents a serious production and ambition for domestic indie bands.

In terms of tone and identity, the studio emphasizes that SHROT is “fast, funny and unapologetically stupid”, which should translate into a positively chaotic and dynamic game that millions of fans should enjoy. An additional local touch is provided by Blogger Krule, who lends his voice to the main character, so one-liners and accents that will be familiar and entertaining to the local audience are expected.

The platform plan is primarily PC with the goal of playing later on PS5 and Xbox, and the future Switch generation is also mentioned as a possibility in some statements. In public plans, the frame of 2026 is drawn as the year towards which the project is looking, with expected intermediate steps such as demo versions and public playtests. The exact release date and distribution model will be announced later.
