Bolt, the leading European platform for mobility and the market leader in Croatia, and Pony.ai, the global leader in autonomous driving technology, entered into a partnership with the aim of introducing robotaxis to European cities.
The cooperation will enable the integration of Pony.ai level 4 autonomous driving technology into Bolt’s platform. In the first phase, the project will focus on testing in real conditions, safety checks and the development of a useful experience to enable fully autonomous driving without a driver. The first pilot projects are planned in selected cities within the European Union, but also in European countries that are not EU members.
Pony.ai currently operates a fleet of 720 robot taxis and around 200 autonomous cargo vehicles, and their vehicles have so far traveled more than 55 million kilometers in autonomous driving mode on public roads.
The partnership should further strengthen Pony.ai’s presence in Europe, drawing on Bolt’s knowledge of the regulatory framework and strong market position on the continent. Bolt operates in more than 50 countries and 600 cities and provides shared mobility services to more than 200 million users.
Establishesč and Chief Executive Officer of Pony.ai, Dr. James Peng pointed out that cooperation with Bolt is an important step in the company’s global expansion and that the combination of Pony.ai’s technology and Bolt’s experience in Europe will accelerate the arrival of safe and reliable robotaxis technology.
On the other hand, it establishesč and Bolt CEO Markus Villig emphasized that autonomous vehicles will greatly change the way people and goods move and that Bolt is uniquely positioned for the responsible introduction of this technology in accordance with European security and data protection standards.
