MobiFone targets the billion-dollar security technology market

MobiFone announced its ambition to develop a multi-layer physical security model that can be deployed on a national scale.

At the security technology event organized by this unit, on the afternoon of November 26, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dinh Tuan, Deputy General Director of MobiFone, said that the physical security system in Vietnam, including cameras, storage, processing software, and software embedded with AI applications, is developing rapidly but is still fragmented. The problem with these systems is the lack of common standards, lack of connectivity, and the inability to keep up with real-time monitoring and response requirements. “Optimizing operations, integrating data and proactively ensuring risks for physical security systems has become an urgent need,” he said.

In that context, MobiFone aims to form an integrated, smart security solution that is ready to expand to a national scale. The unit identifies this as one of the strategic pillars in the telecommunications – technology – digital transformation ecosystem being built.

Mr. Vu Kiem Van, General Director of MobiFone Global, described the development of the security industry through three stages: discrete, integrated and predictive. The discrete phase caused each place to use a separate system. In the last four years, the world has moved to an integrated model, allowing to reduce manpower and costs.

“The next stage is prediction. The system will analyze data, identify risks and automatically trigger responses, helping to reduce dependence on manual guards,” he said.

Regarding the current situation in the country, he said many projects are built according to emerging needs, so they lack an overall design. As infrastructure expands, this approach is no longer appropriate. Protection layers, from sensors, cameras to warning systems, need to be placed on a common foundation to increase monitoring efficiency.

At the conference, MobiFone Global introduced the multi-layer physical security model developed by the unit, including an edge monitoring layer, a central management and analysis layer, a unified warning system and a response coordination mechanism.

The model’s components are designed to be scalable according to each organization’s needs. The unit’s representative said that the goal is to create a unified, standardized and optimized physical security platform in the context of rapidly increasing security needs in Vietnam.

According to Grand View Research, the global physical security market size in 2025 is 158.14 billion USD and is expected to increase to 216 billion USD by 2030. In Vietnam, IMARC’s 2024 data shows that the market size is at 526.4 million USD, possibly increasing to 1.94 billion USD by 2033.
