Pachuca, Hgo., During the celebration of the National Technological Development Summit organized by the National Technological Institute of Mexico, in which 275 projects from various institutions competed, President Claudia Sheinbaum offered to create a fund in order to finance those that are selected for development. In this context, he reaffirmed his willingness to promote scientific and technological development until turning the country into a power in these areas.

“I have always thought that the best thing, or one of the great legacies that we can leave, is education. One of my great dreams is that all young people who want to study university, technology, can do so. That is why we support academic institutions, so that any young person who has the desire to study can do so.”

Before hundreds of participants in this summit, Sheinbaum highlighted that “Mexico is one of the nations with the greatest economic and commercial openness to the world. Of course, many of those countries with which we have exchanges have a lot of technology: why have we not been able to generate great innovations and technological developments for the country?”

For this reason, he said that various scientific projects are already underway, among which he highlighted the development of a compact electric vehicle with national technology, which will travel at 90 kilometers per hour and will have operating autonomy. It will be one of the flagship projects in scientific matters during this six-year term.

He announced that for this purpose, scientists from the country from public institutions were summoned to develop it and announced that it will be ready by mid-2026. “What is the challenge? Produce it, have it manufactured. And how is it going to enter the market? (It will enter) because it is going to be a great vehicle, because it is going to cost less, well then it is going to have many options in the Mexican market and the best worldwide.”

Mexican satellite

Sheinbaum mentioned that there are other important scientific and technological projects: a Mexican satellite so that images do not have to be acquired elsewhere, but rather one that can be launched and from there a forward development is generated.

Another program will be an unmanned vehicle, that is, a drone, but that will help us with all issues, from security to development, surveillance, even mobility. Additionally, a system to measure the climate in the Pacific Ocean, to be able to more accurately predict hurricanes and other natural phenomena.
