Nintendo acquires Bandai Namco Singapore

The Kyoto company will absorb Bandai Namco’s Singapore division, renaming it Nintendo Studios Singapore, with the aim of internalizing the artistic skills already used in titles such as Splatoon

Nintendo has officially announced that it has entered into a share transfer agreement with Bandai Namco Studios, aimed at acquiring the Bandai Namco Studios Singapore division. This strategic maneuver will lead the company, also known for the development of Hirogami, to become a direct subsidiary of the Kyoto company. Following the transaction, the studio will change its name to Nintendo Studios Singapore and will continue its development operations under the new umbrella, fully integrating into the Japanese giant’s ecosystem.

The decision to proceed with this acquisition responds to a specific need to strengthen the Nintendo Group’s internal development structure. Bandai Namco Studios Singapore, originally founded as one of the overseas bases of the Bandai Namco group, has over time developed strong expertise in the creation of in-game artistic assets. The relationship between the two companies is not new: the studio has in fact actively contributed to the development of Nintendo titles, playing a significant role in the creation of the Splatoon series.

According to the disclosed plans, Nintendo will proceed with the acquisition of 80% of the shares of Bandai Namco Studios Singapore starting from April 1, 2026. The agreement also provides that the remaining shares will be acquired at a later time, after a certain period necessary to ensure that the operations of the new subsidiary have stabilized.
