The Central Postal Department, a special unit of the Ministry of Science and Technology, received the Third Class Labor Medal on the occasion of its 60th anniversary of establishment.
At the 60th Anniversary Ceremony, on the afternoon of December 2, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, awarded the Third Class Labor Medal to the Central Postal Department.

Formerly a communication and radio organization from the resistance war against the French to the resistance war against the US, serving top secret communications for the Party Central Committee and the Government, the Department was established on June 17, 1965.
Up to now, this is a special communications unit under the Ministry of Science and Technology, performing the function of advising and assisting the Minister in state management and organizing law enforcement to ensure communication for Party and State leaders in secret and emergency direction and administration work; Serving communication information for Party and State agencies and related agencies and organizations.
At the ceremony, Director General Nguyen Hong Thang reviewed the 60-year journey of development, associated with important turning points of the country. During the war period, the Department ensured top secret communications from the Central Government to the battlefield, which maintained radio waves throughout the 12 days and nights of the “Dien Bien Phu in the Air” campaign; directly served the Vietnamese Delegation at the 1972 Paris Conference. During the Covid-19 period, this was also the unit that ensured communication during the first steering sessions of the Central Government to localities to fight the epidemic.
The Central Postal Department is also associated with the maturity of four special information systems in Vietnam, including the Specialized Data Transmission Network, the Special System Telephone Network, the Special System Telegraph Network and the KT1 Postal Network.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung expressed his emotion that the Party and State leaders always trust the Central Postal Department with especially important tasks. He also expressed his gratitude to all generations of officials, civil servants, public employees and workers of the Department, recognizing their high sense of responsibility and deep professional capacity that has contributed to the cause of protecting and developing the country.
“The one word that cannot be separated from the Central Postal Department is ‘special’: special mission, special loyalty, special people, special techniques, special creativity, and special service,” he said.
According to the Minister, this is also the “fundamental difference, quality, soul, reason for existence” of the Central Post and Telecommunications Department compared to other civil postal and telecommunications units, so it is necessary to maintain and pass it on intact to future generations.
Emphasizing the context in which Vietnam determines development based on science and technology, innovation and digital transformation, the Minister requested the Department to rely on this trio to develop and complete its tasks.

According to him, the Central Post Office must become a special shared digital infrastructure of the political system, placed under the leadership of the Party, serving the Party, State and key national agencies, ensuring information is absolutely safe, secret, transparent and proactive in all situations. In addition, with new content such as digital technology, digital data, digital systems, digital platforms, digital processes, digital environment, digital safety, digital government, the Department needs to quickly master.
“With a development orientation based on two solid pillars, loyal, brave, dedicated, disciplined, affectionate people, and the most modern, secure, intelligent, flexible, and vital technology, I believe that the Central Postal Department is fully capable of rising to complete new tasks,” the Minister said.
Receiving instructions from Minister Nguyen Manh Hung, Director General Nguyen Hong Thang affirmed that it will materialize into tasks and actions with specific results.
