Micron says goodbye to Crucial RAM and SSD to prioritize AI needs

Micron Technology has announced the termination of the business of Crucial consumer brand, dedicated to computer memory, to focus on the high demand in data centers driven by artificial intelligence.

The Crucial brand has been offering RAM and SSD storage for 29 years for consumer computers, but as of this Wednesday it is moving towards the end of its operations, as Micron reported in a statement.

The company will finalize distribution of Crucial products in February 2026, whose availability will be limited to the stock remaining in stores. Micron assures that it will offer continuous warranty service and support.

The reason is the high demand for memory and storage of the devices. data centers specialized in artificial intelligence. According to Micron, the exit of the Crucial business will allow them to “improve supply and support to larger strategic customers in higher growth segments,” as Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Sumit Sadana has said.

He added that “By focusing on key business and commercial segments, Micron seeks improve long-term performance and generate value for strategic clients and interest groups”.

Crucial is a brand known for offering quality at an affordable price, which has allowed it to have “a passionate consumer community” and become synonymous with “technical leadership, quality and reliability of cutting-edge memory and storage products,” according to Sadana.
