Jeff Bezos in Lima: the restaurants that the founder of Amazon has tried in Peru

According to what Virgilio Martínez told “El Comercio”, at Central Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez tried the tasting menu, which consists of 35 preparations. In addition, they visited the restaurant’s research center.

Hours later, Internet users spread photos of the couple at La Perlita, Ricardo Martins’ restaurant, where Bezos was seen trying causa limeña and pisco sours.

On Monday, December 8, chef Jaime Pesaque, who leads the kitchen at Mayta, which is ranked 39th on the list of best restaurants in the world in 2025, shared an image of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s visit to his restaurant located in Miraflores.

“Thank you, Jeff and Lauren for visiting Mayta and Peru,” the chef wrote on his social networks. According to Pesaque told “Perú 21”, the reservation for the restaurant was made three days before their visit and they ordered the complete tasting menu, which includes dishes with ingredients such as guinea pig, mashua, chonta, quinoa, chullpi, shrimp, in addition to the restaurant’s celebrated rice with duck.

Days before, in La Perlita, Bezos consumed ceviche, acebichada corn tortilla, green tamale with knuckle adobo, ají de gallina with crab, pisco sour, capitan and mistela. While at Central the complete tasting menu included a pairing of 25 juices, extracts, infusions and drinks such as ferments and wines.

The couple would have arrived in Lima this weekend, as international media such as Daily Mail photographed them on December 5 leaving the Bird Streets Club in Los Angeles, where Lauren Sánchez’s striking coat worth almost 10 thousand dollars caught the attention of the paparazzi and generated several articles in digital media.

Jeff Bezos and his connection with Latin America

The reason for Jeff Bezos’ visit to Peru is unknown. But the businessman, through the Bezos Earth Fund, has allocated, as reported on his official website, millions to protect the Peruvian Amazon, finance conservation areas, support indigenous communities and restoration projects in the tropical Andes.

In 2022, Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez traveled to Colombia to delve deeper into the effects of deforestation, within the framework of the Bezos Earth Fund’s $10 billion commitment. During their visit they visited the Chiribiquete National Park, the largest protected area in the country.

Bezos announced the fund in 2020 with the purpose of funding scientists and organizations seeking to mitigate the impact of global warming.
