New incentives are starting: Soon, every second Croatian taxi driver could have an electric car

Strujni krug, umbrella association for electric mobility in Croatia, invites taxi drivers, delivery services and car-sharing operators to take advantage of the new public invitation Fund for environmental protection and energy efficiency (FZOEU) for co-financing the purchase of electric vehicles for autotaxi transport, delivery services and vehicle sharing services.

According to current information, applications will start on January 15, and a total of EUR 45 million is available, which is the largest state investment in electric mobility so far. The money is distributed to the sectors that drive the most every day and thus have the greatest impact on city emissions: 22 million goes to auto-taxi carriers, 20 million to delivery services, and three million to those who offer car-sharing and RENT-a-car.

This is the first competition intended for sectors with the largest daily mileage, and thus the greatest impact on air quality in cities. Taxis and delivery vehicles in Croatia cover an average of 60,000 to 120,000 kilometers per year, which is five to 10 times more than the average private vehicle, so replacing such a vehicle with an electric one has a many times greater effect on reducing emissions than replacing an average private vehicle.

The Association notes that the competition represents the country’s most significant step towards reducing urban pollution, noise and operating costs in the sectors that have the greatest real impact on the daily life of citizens. It is estimated that thanks to this competition, more than 5000 new electric vehicles should appear on Croatian roads.

– There are about five thousand taxis on Croatian roads today, and with this competition, enough funds have been secured for the taxi sector alone to convert about 2,500 of them to electric vehicles. In other words, every other taxi driver can receive incentives. In practice, this means that everyone who applies has a very real chance of passing the term. Electric vehicles more for years, they have proven to be by far the most cost-effective option for the taxi sector. When the cost of fuel and expensive services are removed, the drivers are left with up to a thousand euros of additional earnings per month – stated the president of the Circuit Circuit Hrvoje Prpicacute.

The Association reminds that, as in the competition from October, car dealerships do not submit applications on behalf of customers. Applicants themselves open a user account, fill out an application and attach documentation. This makes the process more transparent, but also more demanding for everyone entering the application system for the first time.

In order to simplify the application process, Strujni krug will create detailed application instructions for its members, and in the official Telegram group will enable the exchange of experiences, advice and practical information to make the procedure as simple as possible for all interested parties.
