Amazon and Crystal Dynamics, two new Tomb Raiders announced

The most ambitious project in terms of new features is represented by Tomb Raider: Catalyst, whose release is set for 2027. This new chapter marks a clear deviation from the recent survival trilogy, taking the archaeologist to the regions of northern India in the aftermath of a mythological cataclysm. The game’s structure, described as the largest ever created for the franchise and powered by the Unreal Engine 5, will see Lara compete with rival treasure hunters in a context where the dynamics of trust and betrayal will be central to the resolution of the plot and the prevention of a global catastrophe.

However, the release of the new chapter will be anticipated by Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, scheduled for 2026. Developed with the support of the Flying Wild Hog studio, the title is configured as a complete remake of the original 1996 game. The operation aims to reconstruct with modern technologies the iconic settings of Lara’s debut, from the jungles of Peru to the Greek and Egyptian ruins, up to the search for the Scion artifact. The declared objective is to offer a cutting-edge visual sector, always based on Unreal Engine 5, while maintaining intact the spirit and atmosphere that defined the action-adventure genre thirty years ago.

A fundamental element of continuity between the two productions lies in the choice of the main performer. In fact, both titles will see the actress Alix Wilton Regan take on the role of Lara Croft. Already known to the gaming public for her performances in works such as Cyberpunk 2077, Dragon Age: Inquisition and Mass Effect 3, Regan will have the task of unifying the character’s identity, lending her voice to both the revisited classic version and the protagonist of the new, complex narrative adventure.
