PlayStation Plus Game Catalog for December is out: Here’s what we’re playing this holiday season

The biggest star of the month is Assassin’s Creed Mirage (PS5, PS4), a return to the “old” Assassin’s Creed in a smaller, focused world. You play as Basim in 9th century Baghdad, with an emphasis on stealth, parkour and assassination, and there’s also a major Valley of Memory upgrade that adds a new region of AlUla and a few more hours of story. Along with it comes Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty (PS5, PS4), Team Ninja’s soulslike action set in a dark fantasy depiction of the late Han Dynasty, with fast-paced combat, challenging bosses and an emphasis on parry if you like Nioh and Sekiro style games.

Skate Story (PS5) delivers an indie skater treat where you skate through literal hell. Minimalistic, but stylized visuals and emphasis on tricks and atmosphere more. singled it out as one of the more interesting indie titles of the year, and it comes to PS Plus immediately on the day of release. Granblue Fantasy: Relink (PS5, PS4) is a co-op action RPG in which you fly on an airship with a group of characters and destroy huge widow bosses, ideal for a team that wants something between anime action and looter RPG.

For more relaxed construction, there is Planet Coaster 2 (PS5), a sequel to the popular funfair building game, where you put together your own rollercoasters, decorate the park down to the smallest detail, and make sure that the visitors are happy and don’t throw up too often. Also on the list is Cat Quest III (PS5, PS4), a charming action RPG in which you are a pirate cat on the high seas – easy to get into, full of fun at the expense of cats and enough progression for longer sessions.

The offer for Extra and Premium is rounded off by Lego Horizon Adventures (PS5), a Lego version of Horizon Zero Dawn that tells Aloy’s story in a shorter, simpler format and is perfect for couch co-op or younger players. For the youngest, i.e. the family part of the catalog, there are Paw Patrol: Grand Prix (PS5, PS4), a simple karting game with characters from Psić and Patrol, and Paw Patrol World (PS5, PS4), an adventure in more open levels in which kids explore Adventure Bay and solve tasks with their favorite characters from the cartoon.

Premium subscribers also get something for nostalgia: Soulcalibur III in PS2 Classics version (PS5/PS4). It’s a classic weapon brawl from the PS2 era, now with an improved display, quick save options and additional filters – the perfect pick for anyone who remembers Chronicles of the Sword mode and marathon couch fights.
