Ayaneo recovers the essence of Xperia Play in its first gaming phone

Ayaneo has presented his first gaming phone, Pocket Play a device reminiscent of the Xperia Play and its sliding screen design so it can be used as a portable game console.

In 2011, Sony Ericsson introduced Xperia Play a phone with Android operating system and certified de PlayStation for which classic games from the original PlayStation were released.

Its design attracted attention, since screen could slide to show controls that were hidden under it, similar to those of a Sony console controller, which included a digital crosshead, the four classic Playstation buttons (square, circle, X and triangle), start, select, L, R and two ‘touchpads’ instead of ‘sticks’.

The Chinese firm Ayaneo, specialized in minicomputers and portable game consoles, has recovered the essence of Xperia Play with its first Pocket Play phone.

Available in two colors (black and white), Pocket Play has the minimalist design that characterizes Ayaneo, and maintains the sliding touch screen design. Controls include the steering cross, ABXY buttons and the ability to switch between a ‘touchpad’ way y a virtual ‘joysticks’ mode.

At the moment, Ayaneo has announced the project, which will soon be active on the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform.
