Almost every third European uses generative AI: Here’s how Croats stand according to Eurostat

Usage varies greatly between countries. The largest share of users was recorded in Denmark (48.4%), Estonia (46.6%) and Malta (46.5%), where almost half of the population uses generative AI, which is extremely interesting and tells us a lot about the IT literacy of those countries. The lowest share is held by Romania (17.8%), Italy (19.9%) and Bulgaria (22.5%).

According to the Eurostat map, Croatia is at 27.52%. This puts us below the EU average of 32.7% by about 5.2 percentage points. Compared to the top of the ranking, we are behind Denmark by about 20.9 points, but we are still above the countries at the bottom, for example Romania by about 9.7 points and Bulgaria by about 5.0 points.

Generative AI has definitely entered everyday life, but it has not “sat” equally everywhere. The differences often follow the broader picture of digital habits, availability of tools in the local language, rules at work (what is allowed to be used), and how much people need to use such tools at school, office or privately.
