From Malbrán to universities, Artificial Intelligence programs that improve everyday life

It is the AI ​​that is born in public laboratories, in interior municipalities, in university classrooms, in startups that program at night and in schools that want to teach taking advantage of the latest technology. All platforms mentioned in this note were recognized as the best of 2025 within the framework of the Inaria Awardsprovided by the Argentine Institute of Artificial Intelligence.

The Malbrán Institute developed an algorithm that differentiates bacteria in minutes. Through the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (INEI) and the Operational Unit of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science in Public Health, created an AI-based tool that allows differentiation with high precision, speed and reliability Listeria monocytogenes -pathogenic and cause of listeriosis, a serious disease in humans- Harmless listeriawhich is not infectious but has relevance in the food industry.

This advance is key to avoiding false positives, reducing the risks of outbreaks and strengthening food security and public health in the country.

The National University of Tres de Febrero (UNTREF) developed Archivoz, a system to preserve, organize and analyze scientific archives. It is an AI that silently sustains the history, memory and evidence that allows knowledge to advance.

It is a virtual archive of the country’s vocal records that uses AI not only for technological purposes, but also with a cultural mission: to preserve and model the diversity of Argentine accents that are often ignored by large tech corporations.

It is a platform that allows educational institutions to integrate AI safely and aligned with your educational project.

It is designed to accompany the entire educational community with differentiated objectives for each segment. Thus, it has three differentiated profiles. For students, the objective is to mitigate cognitive debt and provide a safe space, teaching them to prompt and think alongside AI. The goal is for young people to become literate in AI in a Socratic environment (that is, one that does not give them ready-made answers), safe, with filters by age, and emotional care.

“Auroria does not do your homework. For example, a student poses a problem and the AI ​​asks him where he wants to start, or shows him various paths to start with a certain job,” explains Daniela Buján, co-founder of the program.

“In the teachers’ profile we seek to lighten their daily lives, using AI to empower them. With Auroria they can generate classes and activities in minutes, aligned with their institution’s annual project and customizable for students with difficulties. In their profile, managers can monitor how each child is using AI,” Buján completes.

This tool is customized for each institution, aligning with its project and culture, in addition to obtaining metrics and emotionally caring for the children. Its developers are now working on a profile for families, so they can monitor what their children are doing with the tool. The cost of the tool is about $3 per student per month.

The Barceló Foundation developed a course to teach teachers how to create educational content with AI. Not to replace your voice, but to amplify it. The project includes classes for teachers, a guide to using artificial intelligence and the launch of a campaign that encourages the transparent use of technology among students. The initiative seeks for artificial intelligence to function as a cognitive assistant, expanding the possibilities of analysis, exploration and communication on topics related to health.

From the National University of the South – Conicet, they developed an image and video analytical program to automate the survey of multiple objectives (wild and domestic fauna, among others), using artificial intelligence. It is applied in the province of Chubut with elephants and sea lions, and the data is available to the entire community. It allows studying questions such as population estimates, see migrations, evaluate birth and death rates. With the same aerial photos that were taken of animals for years, thousands of data can now be obtained.

In the field of governments and State, Escobar was mentioned in these awards by Flora, a chatbot municipal which was born without a million-dollar budget, but is already responding to the neighbors. It allows you to manage medical appointments, carry out procedures (licenses, authorizations), request services (tree pruning, pet vaccinations) or consult traffic violations.

The provincial government created a service platform that connects citizens with the State. They seek a closer, clearer, simpler State. Specifically, INARIA awarded the Mendoza Tax Administration for its SAyGES community platform, which automates tax management with transparency.
