Mozilla seeks to become a trusted software company with investments in artificial intelligence that will allow them to incorporate new functions into Firefox, but they will do so under an approach that does not impose them on users, but rather allows them to decide on their use.
Anthony Enzor-DeMeo is now the new chief executive officer (CEO) of Mozilla Corporation, after Laura Chambers held this position on an interim basis since February 2024, at a time of transition marked by the arrival of AI, double-digit growth in the mobile market of Firefox, the initial success of the revenue diversification strategy and a major antitrust case.
In its new stage, Mozilla will become “the trusted software company”, as the new CEO has stated in an open letter, in which he has highlighted “the fundamental role” that the company has today, with the rapid change that the Internet is experiencing and the expectations that users have placed on technological products.
To this end, it has shared the three points that will guide its direction, in which trust plays a prominent role, since it has been proposed that users know how what they build works, so that they can understand the value it brings them.
This intention covers privacy, the use of data and artificial intelligence. Especially with this latest technology, which, as Enzor-DeMeo has stated, “should always be an option, something that people can easily disable.”
Regarding the business model, the new CEO insists that “it must align with trust” and drive growth with transparent monetization for people.
At the center of this vision is the Firefox browser, which will continue to be its “pillar”, and which they will transform to be a modern browser with artificial intelligence and compatible with new software additions.
According to the CEO, they will work to make this vision a reality in the next three years, with investments in AI that follow Mozilla’s Manifesto on this technology.
“If we stay focused, Mozilla will grow in relevance and resilience. Firefox will reach new audiences. Our portfolio will strengthen our independence. Our focus on developing trusted software will set a high standard for the industry,” concluded Enzor-DeMeo.
