Samsung announced the Galaxy S26 with a new design in the US

Samsung is expected to postpone the announcement of the Galaxy S26 generation to February 2026 instead of the first month of the year as usual.

Korean news agency Yonhap and “rumor expert” Ice Universe both said that the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event introducing the Galaxy S26 will not take place in January, while the expected sale time is early March 2026. The delay is notable because the new schedule is one month later than the previous generation, for example the Galaxy S25 was announced on January 22, 2025 in San Jose.

Some sources say Samsung is changing its production plan and stopping the ultra-thin Galaxy S26 Edge model. The S26 trio is expected to include Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra.

In addition, Samsung also returned to using the Exynos 2600 processor in parallel with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The company also adjusted the design of the Galaxy S26 Ultra to be more curved compared to the square design of the S25 Ultra. The device still uses a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED screen with AI-enabled Flex Magic Pixel feature, preventing strangers from peeping on content from an inclined angle.

Another big change is that the three rear lenses are housed in a pill-like protective frame like the Galaxy Z Fold7, while the remaining two cameras are separate. This change will create more space to upgrade the camera system and improve photo quality. Battery capacity can increase to 5,200 mAh, fast charging capacity is expected to reach 60 W instead of the current 45 W, allowing charging from 0% to 80% in 30 minutes.

The two versions of Galaxy S26 and S26+ are also more rounded but different overall. The standard S26 model slightly increases the screen size from 6.2 to 6.3 inches, while the S26+ maintains the same 6.7 inches. All have 12 GB starting RAM to meet AI tasks.

Changing the launch schedule could help Samsung have more time to perfect the software and optimize Galaxy AI features to better compete with a series of high-end phones launching in the first half of 2026.
