Marcus emphasizes that the basic principle remains the same: “In the end, it’s the transaction of attention in exchange for a good story. The romance of the tormented writer doesn’t have to change, but the goal of the course is to teach how to utilize the capabilities of artificial intelligence as a tool that makes us better. How it can be an effective apprentice that saves us time in research, a skilled editor who sheds light on weaknesses in the structure, a sounding board for ideas and endless other possibilities that we discover every day.”

Marcus also emphasizes the broad change in the field of storytelling: “We are witnessing a transition from storyteller to storyshower. At the end of the script, it is a tool – words intended to convey a vision from the head of the screenwriter to the producer and director. Used correctly, today the screenwriter can enhance his story with images, video and sound even without relying on other entities. Even non-technological writers can become a one stop shop for video creation.”

Marcus adds that “it’s really not obvious that Sam Spiegel realized early on that the most advanced tools must be given to the filmmakers of tomorrow in order to remain relevant.”
