The smartphone that Israelis preferred in 2025 is the iPhone 16 All the data

According to data collected from 95 branches and sales sites of electrical warehouses, Shechem Electric, Shechem Duty Free and the Payngo website – which together make up about 20% of cell phone sales in Israel – the average transaction price for the purchase of a smartphone this year was NIS 2,434. This is an increase of about 7% compared to 2024, when the average price was NIS 2,303.

Surprisingly, the increase in the average transaction price is not due to a horizontal increase in the price of the devices themselves. On the contrary: most of the leading brands actually saw a drop in prices. The average price of an iPhone in 2025 was NIS 4,358 – a decrease of about 4% compared to last year. Samsung devices were discounted by about 8% to an average price of NIS 2,185, and Xiaomi also recorded a similar drop to an average price of NIS 957.

The gap between the drop in device prices and the increase in total spending is explained, among other things, by the change in the mix of purchases.

The premium category – devices whose price exceeds NIS 4,000, such as the Samsung S25 Ultra and iPhone Pro Max models – recorded a sharp jump and reached 36% of the market share, compared to only 28% last year.

The intermediate category, in the range of NIS 1,000-4,000, remains the largest, but has weakened to 43% of the market – a decrease of about 5%. The category of devices priced at NIS 500-1,000 dropped to 13%, while the cheapest devices, up to NIS 500, maintained a stable share of 8%.

In terms of brands, Apple recorded a quantitative increase of 11% in iPhone sales compared to the previous year. On the other hand, Samsung recorded a decrease of 8% and Xiaomi a decrease of 4%.

The big surprise comes from relatively young brands: Nothing jumped 140% in sales, OPPO rose 50%, and Google Pixel registered a 34% increase.

The best-selling device in Israel in 2025 was the iPhone 16 in the base version – for the second year in a row. Samsung S25 Ultra ranked second, and Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 14 ranked third.

One of the main reasons for the strengthening of advanced devices is the transition to the 5th generation. In the electric networks, this year there was an increase of about 30% in the sales of 5G communication packages – a figure that also reflects the demands of a younger audience for powerful devices, which enable the smooth running of games, applications and video content, alongside a significant improvement in the quality of photography.

The geographic preferences are also preserved. For the fourth year in a row, Qulayat is the leader in smartphone sales as a percentage of total sales, followed by Beer Sheva, Tel Aviv, Kiryat and Petah Tikva.

When you exclude Eilat from the calculation, Tel Aviv stands out as a city where mainly iPhones and Xiaomi devices are sold, while Be’er Sheva shows a clear preference for Samsung devices.

The trade-in field continues to grow: in 2025 a 35% increase in the volume of transactions was recorded. Every fourth customer who is interested in purchasing a new smartphone checks the possibility of a trade-in, and 15% of the transactions are indeed carried out in this way.

The manufacturers themselves also contributed to the trend: Apple and Samsung this year offered a $100 discount to customers who made a trade-in as part of an upgrade to the iPhone 17 or Galaxy S25 models – a step that strengthens the transition to more expensive devices, but also extends the life cycle of the old devices.
