Artificial intelligence and Samsung’s responsibility in sustainable development

AI is deeply present in life and will reach its full potential if developed and used responsibly with humans placed in a central role, according to expert Dao Trung Thanh.

Comment made by Mr. Dao Trung Thanh – Information technology and artificial intelligence strategy consultant, in episode 10 Voices of Galaxy. A series of short films made by Samsung, telling about how Vietnamese people take advantage of technology to create changes in life.

The final episode of the series shows that artificial intelligence is gradually becoming a familiar part of Vietnamese people’s digital lives. AI appears in work, learning, content creation and healthcare, with the ability to respond quickly and intervene increasingly deeply. In that context, the question is no longer “whether to use AI or not”, but “how to use AI”.

Mr. Thanh believes that AI is only truly meaningful when used responsibly, with clear ethical boundaries and putting humans at the center.

According to Mr. Thanh, AI is not the privilege of a small, tech-savvy group. The ability to quickly adapt to new things is an advantage of Vietnamese people in the process of accessing technology. Reality shows that virtual assistants, content creation tools or data analysis are being widely used, from unskilled workers to entrepreneurs, artists and disadvantaged communities. As technical barriers gradually decrease, AI steps out of the professional space into everyday life.

However, this rapid diffusion also poses new challenges. From a psychological perspective, when faced with a major wave of change, people often go through stages from skepticism and anxiety to acceptance and adaptation. With AI, this process happens faster due to the speed of technological development. The fear of falling behind or being replaced by machines has become a common concern.

According to experts, the appropriate approach is not to avoid or surrender to technology, but to proactively learn and get used to it. The use of AI needs to be accompanied by the ability to evaluate, remove inappropriate uses and learn from the beginning when necessary. This is a continuous process, requiring each individual to remain alert and proactive in their relationship with technology.

From an application perspective, AI shows its clearest value when playing a supporting role. In the stories told throughout the Voices of Galaxy series, AI and tools like Gemini Live do not appear as central characters, but stand in the background of everyday activities. Technology supports workers to improve their capabilities, helps artists reduce technical burdens, accompanies young people in creativity, or supports doctors and patients in health monitoring.

At the community scale, AI contributes to connecting and spreading voices that are rarely noticed. Technology helps bring social initiatives, community art projects or indigenous cultural values to a wider public. However, Samsung’s film chain emphasizes that technology does not replace the role of humans in directing and being responsible for content.

A common point in these stories is that AI is not seen as a “universal solution”. The film series conveys the message that technology does not create value on its own without human knowledge, ethics and control. On the contrary, when used transparently and in a limited manner, AI can help people in decisions, including small choices in daily life.

From a long-term perspective, the relationship between humans and AI is the process of learning to master technology. This requires a combination of individual capacity, social norms and appropriate legal frameworks.

The final episode of Voices of Galaxy opens a new period when AI continues to be present in life, but does not replace humans. “When placed on an ethical and humane foundation, technology becomes a support tool for individuals and communities to move forward together, instead of being a force that creates new gaps in the digital society,” a Samsung representative said about the meaning of the film series.
