MediaTek Dimensity 7100 brings support for 45W fast charging and 200MP cameras to mid-range phones

MediaTek has presented its new processor for mid-range smartphones Dimensity 7100, with which it offers support for high screen resolutions and cameras of up to 200 megapixels, and for fast charging of up to 45 watts.

Dimensity 7100 is a chip manufactured with a 6-nanometer process that has been designed to improve energy efficiency in mid-range devices, up to 5 percent in application use, and features a new power management system with integrated 45W fast charging, which helps extend battery life by up to 7 percent.

It also improves performance, thanks to an eight-core CPU, with four of them high-performance Arm Cortex-A78 at 2.4GHz and another four efficiency cores Arm Cortex-A55 at 2.0GHz, as detailed on the product page.

For its part, the graphics are powered by an Arm Mali-G610 MC2 GPU, which speeds up video games by up to 8 percent, so that games run smoothly for longer.

MediaTek has highlighted the support for cameras offered by this processor, as it supports sensors of up to 200 megapixels, and for screens, by supporting a 10-bit color depth to reproduce images with more detail and deeper contrast with HDR, with maximum resolutions of 1,200 x 2,600 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz.

At the connectivity level, the processor is compatible with 5G networks, with download speeds of up to 3.3Gbps, and has its own 5G UltraSave 3.0+ technology, which reduces energy consumption and improves efficiency by up to 30 percent. It also supports WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.4 and Bluetooth Long Range.
