LG’s robot butler promises to empty the laundry basket

CLOiD mounts two fully articulated arms with seven degrees of freedom on a torso capable of flexing and tilting, surpassing the rudimentary aesthetics of the first industrial prototypes. The robot head, which reflects the design of the Q9 series, acts as an advanced communication interface, using facial expressions and natural language to interact with the inhabitants of the house, also demonstrating visual reactions consistent with the context.

However, the real strategic strength lies in the deep integration with the ThinQ ecosystem. CLOiD acts as a self-propelled home automation hub, capable of coordinating the brand’s smart appliances to optimize the most tedious household tasks, including complete laundry management, from washing to folding and storing clothes. The reception of a market that will have to deal with presumably high prices remains to be assessed, but the direction taken by LG outlines a future in which physical automation will become the new standard of private life.
