Samsung has a new battery that improves autonomy, but you won’t see it in smartphones yet

Samsung is working on a new type of battery that promises to improve autonomy, however, it would not be intended for phones, tables or any other gadget. It would be intended for electric cars.

Under the Samsung SDI company, a battery with a carbon silicon anode (Si C) has been worked on and, although it is already a type of battery that was expected, it will not yet reach phones, says a Xataka report.

This new battery is the result of work between Samsung SDI and KG Mobility, intended for electric cars. According to the report, the main thing in this battery revolves around the 46 series cylindrical cells, high nickel NCA cathode and the key point, a proprietary carbon silicon nanocomposite anode.

The approach reduces swelling and improves overall battery life.

Also mentioned is the reduction of internal resistance and the optimization of current flow, that is, more power delivery and better performance in fast charging.

You still won’t be able to have 8000 mAh batteries for phones or mobile devices, however Samsung’s goal is to improve something bigger: electric cars. That would be the beginning.
