The flood of Tesla in Europe: Sales in 2025 fell by almost a third

When you look at the countries, the numbers are even lower. Germany fell 48.4% (from 37,574 to 19,387), the Netherlands 44.5%, Denmark 41.0%, Belgium 53.1%, and Sweden 66.9%. France is at minus 37.5%, and the decline can also be seen in the UK (9.6% less). Reuters further confirms the German result and states 19,390 Teslas in 2025, with an annual decline of 48.4%.

The only “green” point is Norway, where Tesla grew by 41.3% (34,285 vehicles). But Electrek warns that much of that jump came towards the end of the year as incentive rules change in 2026, so buyers clearly rushed ahead of the changes. Reuters writes similarly, noting that Norway is more practical “electricity” of the state according to new car registrations.

The wider picture is interesting because the market for electric cars is still expanding. ACEA states that battery electric vehicles had a 16.9% share in the EU by the end of November 2025, more than a year earlier. At the same time, Reuters points out that Tesla’s share of the European market (Europe, UK and EFTA) fell to 1.7% from 2.4% the year before, at a time when the overall share of electric cars is growing.

This trend definitely suggests to us that the primacy over the market that Tesla had is definitely falling apart. It does not necessarily mean that it is their fault and a poor quality product, but is a more likely option as the competition has simply risen so much that it is impossible to ignore it, so it will be interesting to follow the now slightly more even battle on the market.
