Microsoft will allow IT administrators to uninstall Copilot from computers

Microsoft will allow IT administrators uninstall the Copilot artificial intelligence assistant from the computers you manage that run Windows 11.

The technology company prepares a new policy which he has announced within build 26220.7535 (KB5072046), currently in preview in the Windows Insider program, as reported on his blog.

Identified as ‘RemoveMicrosoftCopilotApp’, administrators will be able to uninstall Copilot of a team that is under its management, although Microsoft establishes three requirements to be able to apply the new policy.

Thus, it requires that the computer have both Microsoft 365 Copilot and Microsoft Copilot installedand that the Copilot application has not been installed by the user of that computer. It also clarifies that it can be uninstalled as long as the Copilot ‘app’ has not been launched in the last 28 days.

“If this policy is enabled, the Microsoft Copilot application will be uninstalled only once”, although users retain the ability to reinstall it again.

This novelty is being prepared for the versions Windows 11 Enterprise, Pro and EDU.
