“Tomb Raider”: Sophie Turner transforms into Lara Croft in the first look at the protagonist of the Prime Video series

The series, announced in January 2023, comes from Phoebe Waller-Bridge, creator of the acclaimed series “Fleabag” and will seek to bring to life the adventures of the famous archaeologist / treasure hunter as she explores ruins of ancient civilizations or explores jungles populated by dinosaurs.

Turner follows in the footsteps of actresses like Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander in bringing Lara Croft to life, sharing the cast with actors such as Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Bill PatersonJack Bannon, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie, Martin Bobb-Semple, John Heffernan and August Wittgenstein.

The series follows the recent successful formula of adapting video games to the small screen that has given us productions such as “The Last of Us” on HBO and “Fallout” on Prime Video itself.

At the moment the production release date is not yet known, but it is speculated that it could be released at the end of 2026 or 2027.

The “Tomb Raider” series is not the only project starring Lara Croft coming out soon and Crystal Dynamics has a new game titled “Tomb Raider: Catalyst” coming out in 2027 and a ‘remaster’ of the first adventures of the saga titled “Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis” to be released in 2026.
