This is a quite logical explanation because the fact is that San Francisco is one of the largest headquarters of large tech companies, so there are potential candidates to be thrown away.

The second option that is mentioned is that the test is not in the robots themselves, butć in the people who meet them on the road. It is mentioned that the testing is actually about what will be the public’s perception of encounters with robots in such conditions, whether the average person will notice it at all, whether they will address it, film it, or have a bad reaction, maybe even violent.

A similar experiment was recorded in at the end of 2023, when researchers from UC Berkeley wanted to study in this way whether their robot would be able to maintain balance. In addition, they were interested in how it would manage on different terrains.
