The Las Vegas Spherewhich revolutionized the world of entertainment with its immersive shows thanks to its spherical infrastructure and high-tech screens, plans to have a smaller version near Washington, at the National Harbor in neighboring Maryland.
The company in charge of this installation, Sphere Entertainment, points out in a statement that it will be the second in the United States and the first in the country with a smaller-scale model, in addition to the third in the world, after the one planned in Abu Dhabi.
The note did not specify dates, but It is estimated that during its construction it would generate about 2,500 jobs and 4,750 once it is operational.. Its economic impact in the area, according to it, will exceed 1,000 million dollars (about 860 million euros) annually.
Sphere Entertainment clarified that its construction, development, financing and operation depend, among other things, on the negotiation and signing of definitive agreements, as well as the obtaining of certain government incentives and approvals from Prince George’s County and the state of Maryland.
The National Harbor, next to the Potomac River, already has a convention center, large hotels, a casino, restaurants and more offerings dedicated to tourism and leisure.
The Sphere there contemplates a capacity of 6,000 seats compared to the 18,6000 in Las Vegas, which opened in 2023 and has since hosted concerts and different types of immersive shows.
