The sands of time as part of its internal restructuring

Ubisoft has announced an organizational, operational and portfolio restructuring which will revolve around five specialized creative houses to promote the development of triple A games that generate value, and which has led to the cancellation of the ‘remake’ of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

Ubisoft’s new operating model is structured around five creative houseswhich will act as integrated business units that combine production and publishingeach of them specialized in a genre and a brand approach.

To “support its implementation”, the company has made the decision to have its employees return to the office “five days per week”, and have a series of teleworking days per year, as reported in a press release.

The first creative house, Vantage Studioswill focus on “Ubisoft’s biggest franchises”, Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry y Rainbow Sixto expand them and turn them “into multimillion-dollar brands.”

The Division, Ghost Recon y Splinter Cell They are grouped in the second creative house, dedicated to competitive and cooperative shooting games (‘shooters’); while For Honor, The Crew, Riders Republic, Brawlhalla y Skull & Bones will continue to be developed in the third creative house, focused on live experiences.

The fourth creative house will be dedicated to large immersive fantasy worlds in which narrative prevails, such as Anno, Might & Magic, Rayman, Prince of Persia y Beyond Good & Evil. For its part, the latest creative house will focus on casual and family-friendly games, with franchises such as Just Dance, Idle Miner Tycoon, Ketchapp y Hung.

Ubisoft has also established that there are currently four new IPs in development, among which is March of Giants, of which more details will be given later.

PORTFOLIO REORGANIZATION

Along with the operational reorganization, Ubisoft has also announced changes that affect its game catalog, with the aim of reallocating resources and supporting the development of quality open world adventures y gaming experiences as a service.

This translates into the cancellation of six games that “do not comply with the new improved quality”, including the ‘remake’ of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time y three new IPs and an unannounced mobile game.

With this, Ubisoft intends to assign “additional development time” to seven gamesincluding one that has been delayed until fiscal 2027, to ensure they “fully meet enhanced quality standards and maximize long-term value creation.”

According to Ubisoft, “this transformation will be supported by a more agile and right-sized organization, which will offer structural efficiencies improved over time“.
