Xiaomi’s smart glasses play music and have an assistant

Mijia Smart Audio Glasses combine the classic design of the glasses with a built-in audio system that uses the so-called open-ear approach, in which the sound is reproduced through speakers located in the frames, without inserting into the ears. Such a solution enables listening to music and making calls while maintaining awareness of the environment. The glasses are equipped with four microphones, and according to the manufacturer, the system reduces wind noise and uses additional algorithms for clearer voice transmission. A “privacy” function was also introduced, which should reduce the spread of sound during calls.

Management takes place through touch controls on the frames, which can be used to control music, calls, volume and activate voice assistants. Built-in sensors recognize when the glasses are removed from the head, during which the playback is automatically paused, and resumes after putting it back on. The glasses also support simultaneous connection to two devices, which enables faster switching between, for example, a phone and a computer.

The glasses come in three design variants, Titanium, Browline and Pilot-Style, and all versions support replaceable dioptric lenses. The Titanium and Browline models offer protection from blue light, while the Pilot-Style version has UV protection. The frames are light, weighing around 40 grams according to the specifications, and the device has an IP54 certificate for resistance to dust and splashes.

The built-in battery with a capacity of 114 mAh, according to Xiaomi, allows up to 13 hours of music playback and up to 9 hours of talk time, with up to 12 days in standby mode. A quick charge of 10 minutes ensures several hours of additional listening. Through the Xiaomi Glasses application, it is possible to customize gestures, manage the connection, use the sound recording option and connect the glasses to several devices.

REDMI Buds 8 Lite: focus on ANC and autonomy

REDMI Buds 8 Lite are new wireless headphones that use a 12.4-mm titanium driver, with support for AAC and SBC audio codecs and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity. The headphones offer active noise cancellation (ANC) up to 42 dB, as well as Transparency mode to let in ambient sounds.

For phone calls, an AI algorithm is used for voice transmission, while users have five preset EQ profiles at their disposal. Additional settings can be adjusted through the Xiaomi Earbuds application.

REDMI Buds 8 Lite support simultaneous connection with two devices, fast charging (10 minutes for about two hours of playback) and autonomy of up to 36 hours of use with the charging case.
