Grok created three million sexualized images, according to investigation

Chatbot Grokfrom the xAI company of Elon Muskgenerated an estimated three million sexualized images of women and minors in a matter of days, researchers said Thursday, revealing the magnitude of explicit content that caused global outrage.

Grok, which is integrated into social network X, allowed users to modify real images of people with simple instructions such as “put her in a bikini” or “take off her clothes.”

An avalanche of deepfakes flooded the internet, causing several countries to ban Grok and sparking outrage from regulators and victims.

The Grok AI tool is estimated to have generated nearly three million sexualized images, including 23,000 that appear to depict minors.following the launch of a new image editing function in

Grok created that volume of hyperrealistic images in a period of 11 days, that is, an average of 190 per minute, according to the report, which does not specify how many were created without people’s consent.

It also identified the sexualization of images of actress Selena Gomez and singers Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj.as well as political figures such as Swedish Vice Prime Minister Ebba Busch and former United States Vice President Kamala Harris.

The data is clear: Elon Musk’s Grok is a factory for the production of sexual abuse material”said Imran Ahmed, executive director of the CCDH.

There was no immediate comment on the findings from X. When contacted by AFP by email, xAI responded with a terse automated message: “Lies from the traditional media.”

Last week, X announced that it will block the ability to create these types of images for all users on Grok and X in jurisdictions where such actions are illegal.

Countries like the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia banned Grokwhile the United Kingdom and France maintain pressure on the company.

California’s attorney general launched an investigation into xAI for sexually explicit material, and several countries opened their own investigations.
