Global glitch in Google: emails are delayed and spam takes over the boxes

One of the most noticeable symptoms is a warning message at the top of emails, according to which Gmail was unable to scan the message for spam, unverified senders or malware. This message also appears in emails sent from known and reliable sources, and has caused confusion and concern among many users. Some even reported a significant delay in two-step verification messages, which caused problems logging into online accounts.

On social networks and on the website “DownDetector” there was a sharp increase in the number of reports about the malfunctions. Users from the United States, Europe, Asia and also from Israel noted that the main mail filters, promotions and updates stopped working as usual, and that emails that were previously filtered automatically now arrive directly in the main box. On the other hand, there are those who reported important messages that disappeared or arrived only after long hours.

In a statement published by Google, it was written that the technical teams are actively working to resolve the problem, and that at this stage users are advised to take increased caution when opening messages from unknown senders. Google emphasized that this is not a known security breach, but an operational malfunction that affects the filtering and scanning mechanisms of the system.

Gmail is one of the most popular email services in the world, with more than a billion active users. Because of this, any large-scale outage could affect millions of people, including businesses, organizations and institutions that rely on the service for daily communication. Users of “Google Workspace”, the corporate version of the service, also reported similar disruptions.
