Apple is not giving up on flip phones, they are already developing another such model

If that larger model does appear, it is expected to be positioned as a very premium device. Rumors often mention more expensive materials and a stronger hinge, with a compromise that is repeated in several reports, which is that due to space and thickness, Face ID may not be the primary option, so the return of Touch ID in the power button is mentioned as a solution. In parallel, the idea that Apple would emphasize multitasking and working in two windows more strongly on the Fold, precisely because the large internal screen makes sense only if it brings something more than a ‘larger display’.

So why ‘Flip’ at all? In that logic, the Flip would be the second step, a smaller device aimed at an audience that wants a flip phone, but without tablet ambitions. Less space in the pocket, fewer compromises in daily use, and potentially a lower price than the book model, although it is too early for any figures.

The most important thing is that both the Flip and the book model are still in the zone of testing and plans, and Apple is known for testing prototypes for years before finalizing the product. In the case of folding devices, details such as the durability of the hinge, the long-term behavior of the screen and how much the bend is visible after months of use are particularly sensitive.
