The robot has body temperature and human-like appearance

Moya can walk, maintain eye contact, and display subtle facial expressions. DroidUp company introduced Moya in Shanghai at the end of January, calling it the world’s first fully biomorphic robot and integrated embodied AI.

Standing at 1.65 m tall and weighing about 32 kg, Moya is designed with nearly adult-like proportions. It has a body temperature of about 32-36 degrees Celsius, helping to increase the feeling of realism when interacting. DroidUp says Moya’s walking posture is 92% accurate, showing the company’s focus on stable and natural movement.

Moya’s appearance and actions caused many mixed reactions on Chinese social networks. Some were delighted with the robot’s realism, while others felt concerned, reflecting the uncanny valley phenomenon – a feeling of discomfort with human-like objects.

DroidUp not only sees Moya as a home robot but also aims for applications in healthcare, education and other commercial environments, where human-robot interaction plays a central role. Instead of focusing on industrial tasks or high-speed sports performance, the company aims for environments that require sustained interaction and a friendly, approachable feel. Moya is expected to hit the market later this year with a starting price of 173,000 USD.

Interesting Engineering Moya was released in the context of the global humanoid robot development race dividing into many different directions. Some companies design robots with stylized or cartoon-like appearances to avoid being compared to humans, others emphasize mechanical shapes, suitable for industrial tasks. A smaller team, including DroidUp, continues to pursue hyper-realistic design that overcomes the “uncanny valley.”
