Trembling: Calcium leakage may be the cause of staine pain

One way would be to block the calcium leaks into the muscles with some new drug. Statins are effective drugs in any case, the doctor reminds.

Statins are very commonly used drugs that lower blood cholesterol. Their disadvantage has mainly been muscle pains, which maybe 5–10 percent of users experience.

Now researchers have found a possible explanation for why statins may cause muscle pain in some users. The reason is the calcium flow opened by the drug to the muscle cells, which leads to tissue damage.
