Sony announces the remake of the first three chapters of the saga with the return of the historic voice actor TC Carson, simultaneously launching a new two-dimensional prequel dedicated to Kratos’ youth
Sony Interactive Entertainment and Santa Monica Studio have formalized the development of God of War Trilogy Remake, a project intended to bring the first three historical adventures of the series to PlayStation 5. The operation aims to completely reconstruct the titles that defined the action genre in the early 2000s, guaranteeing a technical update to the standards of the current console. An element of particular importance for the fidelity to the original work concerns the involvement of TC Carson, the historical voice actor of Kratos, who will return to play the protagonist after years of absence. Despite the relevance of the announcement, the publisher has not yet indicated a precise launch window for the collection.
The closing of the State of Play in February 2026 also reserved a surprise with the immediate debut of God of War: Sons of Sparta, a new chapter already available on the Sony platform. The title, developed in collaboration with Mega Cat Studios, breaks away from the three-dimensional formula to embrace a 2D action platformer structure. The plot is part of the official canon of the saga and delves into the years of Kratos’ youth, focusing on the very harsh training of the Agoge experienced together with his brother Deimos. The game system allows you to experiment with the martial skills of the future Spartan general through the use of spear and shield, integrating mechanics linked to the use of divine artefacts known as Gifts of Olympus to face the various threats of the mythological world.
