The artificial intelligence (IA)simply called that, hides a wide variety of terms that continue to be added as the years go by and adapts to the needs of users. And in the midst of the changes for 2026, the Agentic AI which takes center stage in commerce, education, health, and other areas.
For his part, Juan Moscoso, commercial sales manager of AMD, also assured that 2026 will be the year of agentic AI, “where we are no longer working with isolated artificial intelligences, but they can finally be used together so that they can talk to each other”.
What will this do? By interacting with AI models, the development of products and solutions for clients could be supported.
The shopping experience
AI continues to change our lives.
For Moscoso, the application of AI in the financial sector is clearer in fraud detection, risk analysis, the automation of certain processes and also attention to the end customer.
The other side is e-commerce, in which we are seeing much more personalized recommendations. “There is an approach from technology to the user. It is not new, but clearly with AI this has been accelerating”says the AMD specialist. And this is where AI agents come in.
“What AI agents do is bring together different artificial intelligence engines with databases, with information cross-sections, and that allows a user to be identified in order to deliver this more personalized attention, and it goes hand in hand with reducing response times and at the same time giving a boost to digital commerce.”he explained.
Besides…
Also in cybersecurity
Cyberattacks have become a real headache for companies. In Peru, some banks have already been victims of these leaks, and AI can further exacerbate the problem. This is where agentic AI comes in. “It is no longer just about generating alerts, but about having agents capable of analyzing, deciding and acting under clear rules, defined permissions and total traceability”explained Luis Caro. He said that AWS has AWS Security Agent, which addresses one of the biggest challenges for security teams: anticipating risks without slowing down the speed of development.
Caro also shares this view on the changes in the financial and commercial sector, characterized by immediacy, hyper-personalization and simplicity.
“Agentic AI represents a decisive competitive advantage, but its success depends on two fundamental conditions. First, have industrialized data, that is, reliable, well-governed information prepared to feed AI systems. Second, implement security as an integral part of the technological architecture”he explained.
Nothing without education
But nothing that is proposed in AI can happen without education.
In Peru, AI is already taught in courses, specialties, careers and faculties dedicated to this technology. They highlight the role of the San Marcos and UNI universities, which announced Artificial Intelligence Engineering degrees.
Caro points out that this “It reflects that the country is beginning to become more aware of the role that these technologies will play in its economic and social development.”. And, as detailed, in the region there is a deficit of 2.5 million technological professionals.

He also detailed that AWS is working with Peruvian universities such as the PUCP in training, through the AWS Entrena LATAM program. “The goal is to train 2 million people in Latin America in artificial intelligence and cloud computing by 2028.”he explained, and there are initiatives such as Peruanas a la Nube, Talento Digital, AWS re/Start and AWS Academy.
A similar case occurs with AMD, which has been working with San Marcos. “We are precisely working on some initiatives to provide state-of-the-art infrastructure,” Moscoso told this newspaper. And, as detailed, “Many universities have obsolete technology that is more than 15 years old.”
“Indeed, [las universidades] “They do not have infrastructure that can accommodate the technology that is necessary to develop artificial intelligence.”he indicated.
And this is another point of concern: infrastructure, while the world moves further towards general AI and Peru seems not to keep pace.
How to reduce social gaps?
Although AI requires cutting-edge technology, it can be inferred that it is expensive technology that is not very attainable.
For both specialists, AI can be an opportunity to reduce social gaps, but it depends on some factors.
“Used well, it can democratize access to services that have historically been out of reach of vulnerable populations”says Caro. For example, in education, analytics and artificial intelligence models can be used to accompany students; in health, assisted diagnoses and clinical support systems in communities without access to specialist doctors; AI can also participate in financial services, in the public sector, and public policy research.
But there is a detail. “If there is no responsible AI framework, AI can widen existing inequalities rather than reduce them. Therefore, the central question is not whether AI can close gaps, but how we use it and for what purpose. The true digital transformation is one that puts technology at the service of society.”explained the AWS specialist.
From the commercial side, AMD also has a proposal to democratize technology.
“As a provider of high computing solutions, we see a very attractive proposal for the Peruvian market because, effectively, our solutions are deployed from user computing, through different products: the data center and the offer we have in the Cloud”he explained. In this way, users could generate algorithms and artificial intelligence models only with their computer.
Despite this, he also considered the flight of talent a problem of inequality. This means that professionals have to emigrate to developed countries to make their projects a reality, because “there is no interest from the point of view of the government, the State and the company, to be able to empower their users who are developing artificial intelligence.”
“Clearly this specialized talent is going to leave the country”he pointed out.
In this way the world of artificial intelligence continues to advance. Can we keep up with him?
