Viettel is looking for semiconductor and aerospace talent

Viettel said it is looking for and developing young human resources for strategic technology industries, focusing on 8 areas including: cloud computing, information security, data science and artificial intelligence, semiconductor engineering, 5G technology, software engineering, Internet of Things, and aerospace. Applicants will be trained and directly participate in research and development projects over a 6-month roadmap.

This move comes in the context of Vietnam identifying 11 strategic technology industry groups that need to be prioritized for development, according to the list approved by the Prime Minister in June 2025.

Viettel said that the program is implemented in the direction of combining training with practical work, participating in solving large problems, having a direct impact on research, development and production and business activities. The goal is not only to supplement human resources but also contribute to forming a core workforce for the country’s strategic technology fields.

Since the beginning of the year, Viettel has also organized a number of recruitment sessions in the aerospace segment, with positions such as control simulation engineer, design, mechanical, electrical – electronics. The enterprise focuses on a group of engineers who can directly participate in the process of designing, developing and testing systems and aircraft equipment, revolving around three groups of work: algorithm development and simulation; hardware and mechanical design; and deploy embedded software to the device. Most positions work in Hanoi, requiring one to two years of experience.

On the recruitment portal, Viettel Aerospace Institute is currently looking for about 30 positions, from research and development engineers in mechanics, structures, materials, hardware design engineers, business analysis engineers, ultra-high frequency design engineers to electromechanical technicians and some production positions. Positions also require the ability to use specialized design and simulation software and manipulate laboratory equipment.

Previously, the company also prepared human resources for specific projects. By the end of 2025, this enterprise will coordinate with the University of Natural Sciences – Hanoi National University to open a training course for semiconductor chip manufacturing engineers. In January this year, the group started construction of the first chip factory following the 32 nm process in Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park, with trial production expected from 2028.

The promotion of finding and training semiconductor and aerospace talent takes place in the context of rapidly increasing human resource demand for these fields. According to data at the meeting of the National Steering Committee for Semiconductor Industry Development, in August 2025, Vietnam had about 15,000 semiconductor engineers. In just two years, the number of IC design businesses in Vietnam has increased from 40 to nearly 60 companies.

The packaging, testing and manufacturing segment also saw the number of businesses increase from 7 to 15, with the appearance of names such as Coherent, Amkor, Hana Micron and many companies from Korea, France and Taiwan. Some businesses have strongly expanded their scale, adding hundreds of design engineers in a short time.

In the aerospace field, this is a narrow industry with a relatively small number of engineers in Vietnam. According to Ms. Le Thanh Huong, General Director of Sao Vega technology company, Vietnam has only a few training units in this major, with each course graduating about 60 students. Countries rarely train aerospace engineers for foreigners, leading to scarce human resources.
