Google adds split screen feature to Chrome to ‘boost productivity’

Google has incorporated a series of updates in chrome to “boost the productivity” of users, among which are the split screen as PDF annotations and the possibility of save to Google Drive.

The company seeks increase efficiency of your browser following user suggestions and thus help them streamline your tasks both on a personal and professional level

“Have you ever found yourself juggling multiple windows or constantly switching between the same two tabs? It’s a common frustration that can disrupt your rhythm and slow you down,” the company said in a blog post.

Faced with this type of setbacks, Google has decided to implement the function ‘Split View’ (split screen) in Chrome. In this way, it allows users to see two tabs simultaneously and thus work in the same space.

The function was already available to some users since September, but Google has decided to officially extend it after the good results during the test. “Our work with early adopters has shown that split view is already helping people multitask and be more productive on the web,” the company noted.

Another novelty is the function that allows you to perform annotations on documents in PDF format inside the Chrome viewer. This way, users don’t have to download the document and resort to other applications to highlight fragments, review reports or quickly perform digital signatures.

Along these lines, Google has also incorporated the possibility of save PDF documents to Drive directly from Chromewithout having to download and upload them to the cloud from your computer. Once saved, they will be stored in a folder called “Saved from Chrome.”
