Three-year Research Plan, MUR decree and New Single Fund

The President of INGV, Fabio Florindo, welcomed the provision, underlining the importance of governance based on the certainty of resources for Italy’s international competitiveness. Below is the full statement released regarding the signing of the decree:

“The creation of the new Research Programming Fund, strongly supported by the MUR and Minister Bernini, represents a clear signal of the country’s renewed commitment to a strategic sector for Italy’s development and competitiveness. After years in which research has suffered from discontinuity and fragmentation, the introduction of a certain three-year programming and a single fund helps to guarantee greater stability, transparency and long-term vision.

The choice to unify the main ministerial funding lines in a single instrument strengthens the effectiveness of the interventions, supporting both basic and applied research in a structured way, as well as the management and consolidation of large national research infrastructures. The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology welcomes this reform and reiterates the strategic value of Earth Sciences for our country: a field which, through scientific excellence, technological transfer and the impact on the production system, contributes in a concrete way to the safety, well-being of citizens and the international competitiveness of Italy“.
