iPhone 17e supports MagSafe, adds pink color, priced from 18 million VND

Apple started the new product launch week with the cheapest phone model of the iPhone 17 series, the iPhone 17e. The upgraded version of the iPhone 16e retains the same design but upgrades a lot of internal equipment, especially details that were criticized on the previous generation such as lack of MagSafe, little internal memory compared to the price. However, the screen still uses “rabbit ears” and does not have a 120 Hz refresh rate.

In the introduction on the homepage, Apple once and for all asserted that “iPhone keeps its price longer than other smartphones”. The company also did not forget to introduce that the iPhone 17e is built to last, implying that users will have a smartphone that can be used for a long time, fully updated, and less likely to lose value over time.

In terms of processing power, the iPhone 17e is not inferior to the iPhone 17 when using the new generation A19 chip manufactured on the 3 nm process, with a 6-core CPU, twice faster than the iPhone 11. Four-core GPU with Neural Accelerators helps experience AAA games that require high configuration. The upgraded 16-core NPU also helps optimize large generative models, supporting Apple Intelligence and other AI models faster.

Although it is a low price line, the device also uses the latest mobile network modem designed by Apple, C1X, which is twice faster than C1 in the iPhone 16e and has the same speed as the iPhone Air. C1X consumes 30% less power than the modem in iPhone 16 Pro, improving battery life.

One of the biggest drawbacks on the iPhone 16e is the lack of MagSafe wireless magnetic charging, which has been fixed. The new model supports the common standards of recent Apple devices, compatible with all accessory ecosystems such as wallets, cases, stands, chargers. Qi2 charging standard gives a charging speed of 15 W compared to 7.5 W on the old model. Wired charging also speeds up faster, reaching 50% full in 30 minutes. The usage time announced by the company is 26 hours.

iPhone 17e still uses a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR screen, OLED panel, maximum HDR brightness of 1,200 nits, not outstanding, even worse than many Android phones in the price segment. The device uses the new tempered glass Ceramic Shield 2, which is scratch-resistant three times better than the previous generation. Face ID equipment is still a strong point when it comes to providing a more seamless security experience. The small screen providing compact size is also a factor that attracts many loyal users to “Apple” devices.

Compared to last year, there were only two colors: white and black, iPhone 17e has a new light pink color. In addition, the internal memory of the lowest version also doubled from 128 to 256 GB with the price unchanged, from 599 USD in the US market.

However, due to the exchange rate increase compared to last year, the iPhone 17e is priced one million VND higher than its predecessor in Vietnam, from 17.99 million VND, with two capacity options of 256 and 512 GB. Users can pre-order from March 4 and receive the device from March 11.
