Mobile World Congress celebrates its twentieth edition in Barcelona with more than 2,900 exhibitors

Large corporations such as Cisco, Deutsche Telekom, Ericsson, Google, Huawei, Intel, Lenovo, LG, Meta, Microsoft, Netflix, Nokia, Qualcomm, Samsung, Telefónica, TikTok and ZTE present their news and debate the future of the connectivity industry, marked by the emergence of artificial intelligence.

The European association of mobile operators, GSMA, which organizes the congress, hopes to match the 109,000 visitors who came to the venue last year, despite the fact that the bombings in Iran and surrounding countries are making it difficult for some congressmen to arrive from the Middle East, due to flight cancellations and delays.

More than 8,000 workers have participated in the last 20 days in the assembly of the congress, which will last until Thursday, and which in two decades has had an economic impact of around 7.5 billion euros for Barcelona.

For this edition, the official congress agency has directly reserved some 21,000 rooms for attendees, an influx in the low season that each year energizes the city’s hospitality and leisure industry.

Artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on the connectivity sector will once again star in the technological developments of Mobile.

A new generation of mobile devices equipped with chips powerful enough to run smart models promises to make the definitive leap from the smartphone to the intelligent phone.

At the same time, AI offers new network management and automation solutions that herald a new era for the industry.

Mobile also has a ministerial program attended by delegations from 148 countries, including 66 ministers, in which the future of regulation of the sector at a global level is debated.

In parallel, the Talent Arena is consolidating this year as the main European event dedicated to digital professionals, with an agenda that ranges from technical talks by leading companies in the sector to interventions by figures from the technological world such as Tim Berners-Lee, father of the World Wide Web.
