Xiaomi revealed its star of the year: 17 Ultra is a powerful photo machine, these are all the details

The company also announced that the partnership with Leica is entering a new phase, which it describes as a model of strategic co-creation, after several years of cooperation in research and development. Along with smartphones, a new line of AIoT devices was also shown, including the Xiaomi Scooter 6 series and the Xiaomi Watch 5.

Thinner and lighter models, with an emphasis on durability

Xiaomi 17 Ultra, according to the manufacturer, is the thinnest and lightest “Ultra” model to date – 8.29 mm thick and 218.4 grams in weight. It has a flat case, thinner bezels and a redesigned camera module. The device is available in black and green on the Croatian market, while additional variants are presented globally.

The standard Xiaomi 17 is even more compact (8.06 mm, 191 g), and comes in a memory configuration of 12 + 512 GB. Both models have IP68 certification for dust and water resistance and advanced screen protection (Xiaomi Shield Glass), which the company claims is more resistant to falls than the previous generation.

The biggest technical innovations are related to cameras. Xiaomi 17 Ultra is equipped with a new generation 1-inch LOFIC main sensor (Light Fusion 1050L), which uses capacitor technology to increase light collection capacity and better HDR performance. The 200 MP telephoto camera covers the range from 75 to 100 mm with mechanical optical zoom, while with the help of sensor technology enables the equivalent of an arc length of up to 400 mm.

4K recording at 120 frames per second and Dolby Vision and ACES Log formats are supported, the name Xiaomi also targets more advanced users in the field of video production.

The Xiaomi 17 uses a 1/1.31″ Light Fusion 950 sensor with 4-in-1 Super Pixel technology and a dynamic range of 13.5EV. The 60mm telephoto lens supports portrait photography, macro shooting from a distance of 10cm and AI magnification up to 20x. The front camera has 50MP and improved autofocus, while video supports 4K at 60 fps in Dolby Vision and Log format.

Performance and battery

The series is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform, with a new generation of Qualcomm’s CPU, GPU and NPU solutions. In practice, this means powerful performance for processing photos and videos, but also demanding applications and games.

Interesting information about the batteries: Xiaomi 17 Ultra has a capacity of 6000 mAh, with support for 90W wireless and 50W wireless charging. Xiaomi 17 brings an even greater capacity – 6330 mAh – with 100W wireless and 50W wireless charging. The company states that the new Surge Battery technology with 16 percent silicon enables higher energy density and longer service life.

Brighter OLED screens

Both models use LTPO OLED displays with an adjustable refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz and a peak brightness of up to 3,500 nits, which should ensure better outdoor visibility. Xiaomi 17 Ultra additionally introduces HyperRGB technology with a redesigned sub-pixel structure, with the aim of achieving greater clarity and energy efficiency.

Special Leica edition

In cooperation with Leica, the Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi was also presented, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the German camera manufacturer. The device comes with an aluminum case with a nickel-anodized finish, a customized useful screen and a physical “Camera Ring” wheel. inspired by classic cameras. This version will not be available on the Croatian market.

Prices and promotional offer

Xiaomi 17 Ultra (16 + 512 GB) comes to the Croatian market at a recommended price of 1,499 euros, while Xiaomi 17 (12 + 512 GB) costs 1,099 euros. From February 28 to March 31, customers who choose one of these two models will receive a Xiaomi 2K Gaming Monitor G27Qi EU as a gift, as part of a promotional offer.
