Apple introduces new MacBook Air with M5 and Studio Display and Studio Display XDR professional monitors

Apple has updated its catalog of laptops with the new MacBook Air powered by the M5 processor, which accompanies the new Studio Display and Studio Display XDR monitors, the latter replacing Pro Display XDR.

The Cupertino firm has highlighted the performance and artificial intelligence capabilities offered by the MacBook Air, which are powered by the M5 chip. Improved shading cores and a third-generation ray tracing engine power everything from gaming to 3D rendering.

Its unified memory with 153 GB/s of bandwidth (28% more compared to the M4) enables more fluid performance in multitasking and to open applications in less time, as the company has detailed in a press release.

The new MacBook Air offers a minimum capacity of 512 GB, comes with faster SSD technology and can be configured with up to 4 TB. Plus, Apple’s N1 wireless chip features WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6 for great connectivity from anywhere.

The body made of thin aluminum, which makes it light and resistant, houses a 13.6 or 15.3-inch Liquid Retina display with 500 nits of brightness and support for one billion colors, and has a 12MP Center Stage camera.

The device offers up to 18 hours of autonomy, integrates a surround sound system with spatial audio and two Thunderbolt 4 ports that support up to two external monitors. It runs macOS Tahoe and features the Apple Intelligence ecosystem.

The new MacBook Air with M5 chip will be available on March 11. The 13-inch model is available from 1,199 euros, and the 15-inch model, from 1,499 euros, both in sky blue, midnight, star white and silver.

PROFESSIONAL MONITORS

Apple also presented this Tuesday a new generation of the Studio Display professional monitor, which uses a 27-inch Retina 5K display that reproduces more than 14 million pixels, 600 nits of maximum brightness and P3 color gamut to offer realistic images.

It includes a 12MP Center Stage camera, now with Top-down View, a set of three studio-quality microphones and a six-speaker sound system with four force-cancelling woofers, to reproduce bass that is 30 percent deeper than the previous generation, and two tweeters that provide immersive sound.

The new Studio Display also offers Thunderbolt 5 connectivity through two ports that allow you to connect high-speed accessories or up to four Studio Display models in a daisy chain. In addition, it has two USB-C ports to connect peripherals and charge the device.

As detailed by Apple, this monitor has been designed for work processes such as HDR video editing and 3D rendering, and therefore also offers a contrast of 1,000,000:1 and support for P3 and Adobe RGB wide color gamuts.

The Studio Display

This monitor integrates Thunderbolt 5 connectivity, with a second port for downstream high-speed accessories or other daisy chain monitors. And two additional USB-C ports for greater connectivity, while offering up to 140W of charging power.

The two monitors will be available on March 11. Studio Display has a price starting at 1,699 euros, while Studio Display XDR starts at 3,499 euros.
