Samsung stopped selling the Z TriFold three-fold phone after 3 months of launch

Bloomberg quoted a Samsung spokesperson as saying that the company started to stop selling the Z TriFold in Korea, then to the US and other markets when it ran out of inventory. This move was predicted in advance: in March, the Samsung website recorded the TriFold as “out of stock” but did not announce the addition of new product sources for this two-hinged phone model.

Galaxy Z TriFold was launched in December 2025, but was only available for limited sale in some markets such as Korea, US, China, Singapore and UAE. Analysts at that time predicted that the device would have a short life cycle, because the product was meant to demonstrate advanced folding screen technology instead of targeting the mass market.

Even though it costs $2,800, the Galaxy Z TriFold is often out of stock. On the secondary market, the machine’s price was inflated many times to the listed price. Samsung does not disclose the number of devices sold per batch, but technology sites say that this number is “very limited” because the company still has to incur losses on each product sold. In addition, the prices of key components such as DRAM memory, NAND flash and mobile processors are continuously increasing, further reducing the company’s profits.

Galaxy Z TriFold is considered to leave a strong technical impression. This is Samsung’s first phone with a triple-folding screen, measuring 10 inches when fully opened and 6.5 inches when folded, with an ultra-thin body of 3.9 mm.

TriFold is equipped with a three-cell battery system with a total capacity of 5,600 mAh. The device also integrates a high-end camera with a 200-megapixel main sensor and a special dual hinge system. Samsung has promoted unique experiences on the device such as running three parallel vertical applications or reading newspapers in tablet style.

The discontinuation of TriFold sales is said to clear the way for Samsung’s new product roadmap. The company plans to announce the next generation of dual-folding smartphones Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold in the summer. Samsung has not yet decided whether to develop a successor to the TriFold or not.
