Attie, the AI that allows anyone to create a social algorithm

The team behind the rise of Bluesky introduced Attie, an AI-powered assistant designed to revolutionize AT protocol interaction. Unveiled at the Atmosphere conference by former CEO Jay Graber and CTO Paul Frazee, the software leverages Anthropic’s Claude models to allow users to model their own algorithms without having to resort to traditional programming. The declared objective is to overcome the technical barriers that have so far limited development in the decentralized ecosystem.

In its current form, Attie allows the creation of custom feeds through simple text instructions. Users can request extremely specific content streams, such as discussions of folklore and Celtic musical traditions, resulting in an AI-curated selection. Although the service is initially confined to a dedicated application, the long-term strategy involves deep integration with Bluesky and other platforms that rely on the atproto protocol, extending the customization capability to the entire network.

The project’s ambition goes beyond simple content management, aiming towards what Graber defines as “vibe coding”. With agent programming tools, users will be able to build complete applications leveraging the open data layer of the Atmosphere network. According to the developers, the architecture of the AT protocol, equipped with clearly defined schemes, is particularly suitable for this type of automation, making the software customizable even by those without technical skills. Attie is now in a closed beta phase, with an active waitlist on the official website.
